Nach dem Vortrag von Dr. Karsten Böhm zu OTT (Ongoing trauma therapy) hören wir Vorträge und Erfahrungsberichte der Kolleg:innen aus der Ukraine und Israel. Im Q&A ist Raum für Fragen, und im Anschluss wird es Gelegenheit zum Austausch geben.

Dr. phil. Karsten R. Böhm, Germany
Clinical Psychologist and Senior EMDR Trainer, specializing in CBT, OCD, anxiety disorders, and PTSD psychotherapy. President of the German EMDRIA board and member of Germany’s National Guideline Commissions for the treatment of OCD and PTSD.
Presentation Title: "EMDR Therapy for Ongoing Traumatic Stress (OTT)"
Dr. Böhm has published extensively on EMDR therapy and has worked as a clinical psychologist at the University Hospital of Freiburg and Clinic Friedenweiler. His presentation will address methods for treating ongoing traumatic stress and its implications in wartime contexts.
Oksana Khmelnytska, Ukraine
Vice-Chairwoman of EMDR Ukraine, EMDR consultant, and practitioner working with war-affected populations in Ukraine since 2014. Her experience includes providing therapy to military personnel at all stages of service and after demobilization.
Presentation Title: "Doctor and War - EMDR for Doctors Affected by the War in Ukraine"
This presentation highlights the experience and effectiveness of short-term group EMDR interventions conducted between 2022–2024 for medical staff in state health facilities located in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Kherson regions—border areas still under constant missile, drone, and artillery attacks. Some of these medical workers experienced occupation and have resumed work after de-occupation.
Dmytro Snisar, Ukraine
Military psychologist, officer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Head of the Psychological Support and Recovery Group. He is an accredited EMDR practitioner and consultant (EMDR Europe).
Presentation Title: "Specifics of Working with Soldiers’ Trauma on the Frontline"
This presentation focuses on addressing trauma experienced by soldiers in active combat situations and strategies for psychological recovery.
Elan Shapiro, Israel
An early pioneer in EMDR, active since 1989, and former Secretary of EMDR Europe (2003–2011). He is the recipient of the 2016 David Servan-Schreiber Award and the 2024 Humanitarian Award from Trauma Aid Europe.
Presentation Title: "Developments in EMDR Protocols for Recent and Ongoing Trauma"
Elan Shapiro co-developed the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP). His presentation will focus on refining EMDR protocols for recent and ongoing trauma, particularly in war-affected populations.
Dr. Tuly Flint, Ph.D., Israel
EMDR Trainer, Couples and Family Therapist, specializing in Somatic Experiencing, CBT, Narrative Therapy, and PTSD treatment. Dr. Flint has worked extensively with combat trauma, torture survivors, sexual abuse victims, and addictions.
Presentation Title: "Concepts and Interventions in EMDR Therapy for Ongoing Trauma"
Dr. Flint researches and writes about spiritual recovery from trauma and PTSD and is a founder of EMDR for Peace, which trains therapists in Palestine and other conflict areas.
Dr. Roger Solomon, Ph.D.
Psychologist specializing in trauma and grief. He serves as Program Director and Senior Faculty with the EMDR Institute of Francine Shapiro, is an EMDR Europe-approved trainer, and teaches EMDR therapy internationally. Dr. Solomon has provided services to agencies including the FBI, Secret Service, NASA, and the U.S. military.
Presentation Title: "Case Study of Prolonged Grief Disorder and EMDR Treatment"
This case study follows a woman whose husband was killed in the early days of the Russian invasion. It explores complex symptoms, including risky behaviors used to maintain a connection to her husband. Video clips of EMDR therapy sessions will illustrate the dynamics of grief and treatment principles.
Dr. Solomon has authored or co-authored 51 articles and book chapters and published the book EMDR Treatment for Grief and Mourning: Transforming the Connection to the Deceased Loved One (2024, Oxford Press).
